Is Higher Lower Songs free?
Yes. Every current browser game is free to play. You do not need a subscription or account. Optional donations support development but do not unlock advantages or change scores.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Open the website in a current browser on desktop, tablet or phone. A mobile app may be developed later, but the web version contains the playable modes.
Are the displayed stream counts live and official?
No. Streaming totals change constantly and differ between platforms, territories, remasters and alternate recordings. The Higher or Lower mode uses stable in-game estimates so a comparison remains consistent during play. It is an entertainment quiz, not an official chart service.
Why can another source show a different release year?
A track may have an album release, a single release and separate regional dates. The game uses one year from its catalog for consistent scoring. If you find a clear catalog error, send the song title and a reliable source to the contact address in the Impressum.
Why is a preview unavailable?
Audio preview availability can vary by song and region. A provider may remove or replace a preview. Other modes and many Guess The Song rounds remain playable even when a specific preview cannot be loaded.
How does Guess The Song scoring work?
A correct answer from the 0.1-second clue earns 100 points. Longer 0.5-, 1- and 3-second clues are worth 75, 50 and 25 points. Choosing a longer clue never removes points already earned in earlier rounds.
Is the Daily Challenge the same for everyone?
It is designed as one shared set for the day, making score comparisons more meaningful. A local completion marker prevents accidental repeated score attempts in the same browser.
What is the difference between Private 1v1 and Multiplayer?
Private 1v1 is a direct match between two people and begins when both are ready. Multiplayer is host-controlled, supports up to 12 players and includes a live leaderboard plus detailed final standings.
What does Hide invite link do?
It removes the invite URL and room code from the host's visible page, which is useful while screen sharing. It does not block people who already have the link. Select Show invite link to display it again.
What does Close lobby do?
It freezes the current admitted player list. Anyone trying to join afterward receives a closed-lobby message and is excluded from rounds and rankings. Reopen the lobby before the game starts if more players should be allowed in.
How many people can join Multiplayer?
The limit is 12 players including the host. The smaller group size keeps the waiting room, live ranking and results readable on phones and streams.
What happens if the host leaves?
There is currently no automatic host migration. Create a new room and share its fresh invite. Rooms are temporary live sessions and are not intended as permanent leagues.
Why did my audio not start?
Browsers commonly block sound until the page receives a user interaction. Press the preview button again, check the page volume control and verify that the browser tab is not muted.
What data is saved?
No player account is required. The browser can save scores, volume and consent choices locally. Live rooms transmit a temporary display name and game state through the realtime room connection. Read the privacy policy for details.
Can I use the game on a stream?
Yes, the Multiplayer mode was designed for a host and a small live community. Hide the invitation before showing the game screen and close the lobby when the intended players have joined. Streamers remain responsible for the music and platform rules that apply to their own broadcast.
How can I report a bug or incorrect question?
Email kowbasd@gmail.com with the game mode, song or artist, what you expected and—if possible—a screenshot. Clear details make catalog corrections much faster.
